Introduction
Suzanne Mooney is an Irish artist currently living and working in Dublin and has exhibited work throughout Ireland and internationally. She has a Masters Degree in Fine Art, Virtual Realities, from the National College of Art and Design (2005) and a BA in Fine Art from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design (2002).
Her work ranges from photography and video, to sculpture and interactive installations, incorporating elements of performance. Her works make references to Romanticism and painting and in particular landscapes: how we interact within and experience these differing spaces, both as individuals and collectively.
Most recently Suzanne was selected for Propose 7 vol.2 at the Kumho Musem of Art, Seoul and was awarded a substantial Bursary from the Arts Council of Ireland to support the further development of her arts practice. She also completed a residency at The National Art Studio Changdong, Seoul, funded by Culture Ireland and the Arts Council of Ireland and in 2006 was short-listed for the Irish American Art Awards, New York. She was selected to produce a site-specific installation for Art Trail 2005, Cork, Ireland and was commissioned to make original video works for Dance Theatre of Irelands 2005 production WaterMark and again for their recent production Exodus in 2006. In 2008, Suzanne will be an artist-in-residence at Can Serrat International Arts Centre, Spain and will also be participating in The SPACE Programme residency with The Performance Corporation in Kildare.
Suzanne will also be having her first solo gallery exhibition in Ireland at Signal Arts Centre, Bray, in February 2008.
