Ian-John Coughlan

Biog

Ian John is a practicing artist and a graduate of NCAD’s MA Fine Art program. Trained primarily in the discipline of sculpture, he works in numerous media, comprising elements of performance, digital video and works on paper.

His subject matter deals primarily with the tradition of the Erasure as a transformative action, through use of the written word, although recently this has broadened to include most forms of transgression and the employment of other communicative means.

His work has been purchased for the Irish State Art Collection. He has exhibited in both Britain and Ireland, most recently in the Peripheral Visions video art exhibition and symposium at the Granary Theatre, as part of Cork European Capital of Culture, 2005. He lives and works in Dublin.
