| Walking In The City Walking
In The City is a series of images related to my current research in
Japan. I am particularly interested in the differences in how we
imagine urban space compared to how we experience it in our daily lives.
In this series, I wanted to emphasize the individual by isolating just one figure in each frame and also place extra emphasis on the movement by using bridges and walkways to construct the images. I also chose to retain some sense of the scale of the city by keeping the size of the figure small and using strong geometric patterns/lines. The title of this series is taken from a chapter title of "The Practice of Everyday Life", Michel de Certeau. |
